This Star Rug is a custom design, a larger version of my Star Rug. Dianne wanted to go big! And doesn't it look great with her quilt?
Dianne told me, "I had been collecting books about rug hooking for sometime, did a couple of very small pieces awhile ago. COVID lockdown sent me looking for a long term project and I decided to make a rug for my grandson, who was eight at the time. I decided on this. It kept me busy learning new skills and thinking about positive subjects. John likes it, but as it happens, he’s acquired two half grown kittens since I started the rug, so it will stay here in his room at Nana’s for the time being.
And yes, I made the quilt. Used to be an obsessive quilter until all friends and family held an intervention and pleaded with me to stop—-they had no more cupboard space, let alone beds!"

A small rug and a story...
Enter a small rug (around 2 square feet, or approximately ten thousand loops!). Rugs can be hooked, punched or latched, 2-D or 3-D, any materials or embellishments.
Then tell us a story about your rug: Why you made it, how you made it, highlight any details you don't want us to miss.
You must be a member of Rug Hooking Daily (a free, online rug hooking community at rughookingdaily.ning.com), and the entry fee for the contest is $10. Entries will be voted on by the membership.
First place: $150 Second place: $90 Third place: $60
All entries will be included in our book. Entry deadline is May 31, 2021.
